Product Introduction

Wire thread inserts, also known as screw thread inserts or thread sleeves, are fasteners developed to protect threaded holes in non‑ferrous metals. As a new type of internal thread fastener, they are suitable for threaded connections. After being screwed and fastened into the threaded hole of one connected part, they form a standard internal thread, into which a bolt or screw is then inserted.

They are precision‑formed spring‑like concentric fasteners with internal and external threads, made from cold‑rolled diamond‑shaped stainless steel wire. They are mainly used to strengthen and protect internal threads in low‑strength materials, eliminate manufacturing errors in threads, improve connection strength, effectively reduce uneven stress distribution in threads, resist impact and vibration, and extend the service life of threaded holes.

After installing the wire thread insert, it can effectively compensate for the deviation of pitch and thread angle between the threaded hole and the screw, allowing each thread to be well engaged, so that the stress generated by the load is evenly distributed on each thread of the engagement surface, maintaining the stability of the thread connection, and ensuring that the insert can still maintain reliable firmness under vibration conditions.

▶ Applications of Wire Thread Inserts

Wire thread inserts are a new type of connection and fastening technology, which can effectively improve connection conditions and greatly enhance the reliability of screw connections. Its advantages are as follows:

  1. When applied in various low-strength materials, wire thread inserts can greatly improve the wear resistance of screw connections and avoid damage to the connecting threads.

  2. Due to the certain elasticity of wire thread inserts, the load distribution on each thread can be relatively uniform, eliminating the pitch and tooth profile deviation between the screw and the threaded hole, and absorbing vibration, thus improving the connection strength and fatigue resistance of the thread.

  3. Locking-type wire thread inserts can lock the screw in the threaded hole, preventing the screw from loosening under impact and vibration, and have better process performance than ordinary locking devices.

  4. Compared with the method of inlaying steel or copper bushings, under the same strength condition, smaller-sized and higher-strength screws can be selected, which can reduce volume and weight.

  5. The hardness of the wire thread insert is higher than that of the screw, so the wear is small during the assembly and disassembly process of the screw connection, and it can be used repeatedly. According to tensile test research, the tensile strength of the wire thread insert is more than 7 times that of the screw, so the wire thread insert will not be damaged even if the screw breaks.

  1. Enhance connection strength and improve connection conditions: When installed in low-strength materials such as aluminum and magnesium, wire thread inserts can avoid thread slipping and misalignment, and obtain excellent connection performance.

  2. Wear resistance: Used in frequently disassembled parts, it can greatly improve the service life of threads, reduce damage to the lower-strength matrix, and reduce hidden costs such as matrix processing costs, part replacement, and failure.

  3. Excellent corrosion resistance: The insert can match most materials in conventional environments, and can also prevent thread connection from seizing or galling at high temperatures.

  4. Increase stress-bearing surface: Used in parts that require strong connection force but cannot increase the diameter of the threaded hole.

  5. Anti-vibration and anti-loosening: Especially suitable for applications requiring high safety factors, such as aerospace products.

  6. Easy maintenance: Installing a wire thread insert into a damaged threaded hole allows it to continue to be used after repair, avoiding the possibility of workpiece scrapping.
